Nissan Formula E Team has created a caffeine-free Zen drink with zero added sugar, called ‘Zerenergy’, to mark this weekend’s Mexico E-Prix. The drink’s name is derived from the concepts of Zen, serene, and energy, featuring calming ingredients and cherry blossom flavoring, inspired by the team’s Sakura themed livery.

While motorsport has a long association with energy drink sponsors, Zerenergy is designed to have a relaxing and calming effect, making it the perfect accompaniment to the Mexico E-Prix, which is known for its on-track entertainment and passionate fans. Nissan Formula E Team, the most popular team in Mexico with 30% of fans supporting it1, has a strong record of excitement on the track. This is highlighted by the fact that the team recorded the most overtakes in Season 10 with 419, accounting for 11% of the 3,813 total across all teams2. In addition, driver Oliver Rowland earned the ‘Driver of Progress’ title in Season 10 for gaining 64 positions during races3. As a result, the team is confident that the action on the track in Mexico City will provide fans with all the excitement they need to feel electric, no caffeine or added sugar required.

‘Zerenergy’ is the first caffeine-free Zen drink created by an automotive brand, underlining Nissan’s DNA of ‘Daring to do what others don’t’, pushing boundaries through innovation both on and off the racetrack. The drink features a unique blend of natural ingredients including Yuzu, a Japanese fruit known for its calming effects, magnesium to reduce anxiety, L Theanine to promote relaxation, Ascorbic acid to reduce cortisol levels and improve mood, as well as pink salt for optimal hydration. In addition to these calming elements, the drink is carbonated with natural flavorings including cherry blossom, a tribute to the team’s Japanese heritage, along with strawberry, vanilla and agave for a naturally sweet, balanced taste.

Nissan Formula E Team partnered with graphic artist Alan Berry Rhys to design the ‘Zerenergy’ can. The design is bold and colorful, combining Mexico’s Huichol patterns and Japanese Sakura, with the Nissan e-4ORCE 05 car positioned at its center.

Humberto Gomez, Senior Marketing Director, Nissan Mexicana: “The Mexico E-Prix is a thrilling spectacle in motorsport, with the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez recognized as one of the most exciting circuits, and our fans famous for their passion. For Nissan, Mexico also represents our fourth most important market globally. Therefore, we wanted to do something very special for our fans, in a way that only Nissan can do, by innovating beyond the ordinary.”
